BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Kentucky is currently facing a critical shortage of nearly 3,000 physicians, leaving more than 100 of the state’s 120 counties without adequate healthcare coverage.
Local physicians point to a growing insurance practice known as “downcoding”—where insurance companies systematically reduce doctors’ reimbursement claims without notice, overriding the provider’s original medical decisions.
