How independent physicians are fighting back against rising costs

Independent physicians are feeling the squeeze as costs of care rise.

Reimbursement rates aren’t keeping up with increasing staffing and supply expenses, providers say. In response, many have sold their practices to corporations or larger health systems.

But others are looking for alternatives. They are turning to third parties for infrastructure support, partnering with larger entities to access more resources and tapping into private equity capital through management services organizations.
